Things to do, people to see, places to go
Lily Sokolowski is the API Peer Mentor at Texas Woman’s University. She studied with API in Florence, Italy. “I saw David yesterday. He’s hot.” Granted the only David I knew was the forty year old café owner on my street, I was a little confused as to what exactly my friend was talking about. “Whaat?” [...]The API Peer Mentor Program
The API Peer Mentor program provides future API students with the opportunity to speak with recent API alumni from their program of interest! Peer Mentors serve as resources for outbound students, participating in their home school’s study abroad fair, serving as a study abroad advocate, giving presentations to student groups and the community at large, and helping API to keep its pre-departure information relevant and student-focused. Peer Mentors complete extensive training sessions with API and speak about their experiences, answer prospective student questions, and help guide prospective students through the pre-departure process.
Become a Peer Mentor (API Alumni)
Returning students have the opportunity to apply to become a Peer Mentor with API for an academic year. Students are asked at the end of their program if they are interested in applying, and candidates are reviewed in early summer. Upon completion of their year of service, Peer Mentors may apply for an internship with API, a great résumé builder.
If you are a recent API alumnus and are interested in becoming a Peer Mentor, download the application form here.
